This poem represents people claiming to be unusually enlightened with regard to a subjet,i believe this author is trying to explain the way secret societies operate, letting us know that symbols and hidden messeges surround us, but only some people can interpret it because they have the knowledge or the degree requiered to know certain "trues" about the world, an example of this interpretation can be found on the 8th line, "Climbing the steps to the 33rd degree", which in the Freemasonry, the 33rd degree is the highest level in which it becomes a matter of public knowledge and pride.
